Music for the Seasons of my Soul

We all have our favourite musician, our favourite genre, and for many, we listen to the music that reflects our mood. For me, my musical map stretches far and wide, from the dark cavernous depths of Linkin park, to the electronic vibe of Jean Michel Jarre, to the fresh bucolic swoop and dive of Vaughan Williams. And for when a job needs to be done it's anything from Abba to Frank Sinatra. I guess what I'm trying to say is that for all the seasons to my soul, my musical taste is not limited to one or even two genres; it spans the whole musical spectrum.
Music can be reflective, fun and entertaining but it can also be healing and soothing. Sometimes it can help you sort the wheat from the chaff or inspire you to pick yourself up when the world is trying to knock you down. When someone else is looking into your soul, singing about how you feel inside, what you want to be and where you want to go, it can make you feel a little less alone, a little less afraid.
Music can help focus your mind on study, on a task or, for me, on writing. It bridges the gap in my mind between linear, everyday thoughts and the dashing waves of my creativity (is my creativity really as vast and magnificent as the ocean? If only! No, it just comes and goes just like the waves.).
Whatever music does for us, wherever it takes us, it will always offer us the soundtrack to the ups and downs of our life. It will always be a part of someone's life, and that's something that sets us apart from all the other life on this planet.
